A historical place

                                                 Gatabaru Raja Maha Viharaya

                 

                          Gatabaru Raja Maha Viharaya and the devala is a historical place. It is situated in Matara distric and at Kotapola village. The temple is close to Galle - Deniyaya road. There is a devala on the Gatabaru hill. It is famous for God Rajjuru Bandara.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

                                                              This temple is surrounded by small  mountains. The climate of this area is very cool. The Diyadawa forest brings this cold climate.

                                                            

                                              Many people come to this temple to worship people believe God Rajjuru Bandara. Therefore they come to devala and offer panduru requesting their protection and solutions for their problems. The devala is in a cave. And there is sleeping statue of Lord Buddha. To climb up to the dagaba hundreds of stone steps are there.

                                                         

                                                          The temple is beautiful; because the environment is scenic. The people of the area believe this temple with the devala is influential place.
