                                                               Sinharaja rain forest

                             Sinharaja is a rain forest. It is published as a world heritage. It

 is located to Sabaragamuwa province and to southern province. The forest is bordering 

to Rathnapura and Matara district. From Matara district there are many entrances. Some 

of them are in Deniyaya. It is the southern province entrance to the forest.  Another one 

is at Pothupitiya in Sabaragamuwa province. Sinharaja forest is special for it's biodiversity. 

Herbal plants can be seen every where in the forest. There are many water falls in 

the rain forest like; Kekuna falls, Dust falls etc. 

                                                       

                               There are different kinds of trees, plants, flowers, specially orchids and rare 

flowers. There we can find rare plants like; Hora, Bandura etc.

                                      Various types of animals and birds can be seen in the forest. Monkeys, 

squirrels, reptiles, insects are the organisms in the forest.


                                                      

                                            We must protect this valuable source, but some people try to 

destroy it. People cut down trees. Therefore it is a great threat to this forest.
